Linux System Administrator

About the role

This role is for a Linux Engineer to join the Core Systems team within a global MIS department. You will be instrumental in maintaining and evolving the Linux environment, collaborating closely with a large international team, including Windows system administrators, to ensure seamless and consistent operations.

Work tasks

• Provide day-to-day 2nd & 3rd level support for hardware and software in the Linux environment
• Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
• Manage backup/restore operations for critical systems.
• Manage system security via granular user & folder permissions and out-of-cycle patching.
• Manage scripting, monitoring, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency.
• Manage load balancing and reverse proxy configuration and troubleshooting for Linux and Windows backend systems.

We are looking for

• Strong technical skills on Linux (Debian and RedHat) environments, both physical and virtualized.
• Familiarity with Linux scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl).
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as SSSD with Active Directory, Docker, Apache.
• Strong grasp of configuration management tools, such as Rudder and Ansible.
• Proficient with network tools like iptables, nftables, and tcpdump.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position.

It is meritorious if you have

• Knowledge or interest in Azure/AWS administration and configuration via Terraform.
• Familiarity/experience with Windows (Client and Server) support and integration.
• Good knowledge of French.
