R&D Engineer / Electrical Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leading provider of advanced engineering solutions, is seeking a self-driven and responsible R&D Engineer / Electrical Engineer to strengthen their Product Engineering team. In this role, you will take ownership of certification projects for medium-voltage drives, ensuring compliance with international standards and directives. You will act as a key interface with external certification bodies, oversee documentation and testing, and work closely with cross-functional teams to guarantee compliant and reliable product development. The position is initially limited to 6 months, with the option to extend or transition into a permanent role.

Work tasks

Lead certification projects for medium-voltage frequency converters, ensuring full compliance with international standards, directives, and regulations:

• Define and manage product requirement, budgets and resources according to standards and directives
• Coordinate with external Notified Bodies (TÜV SÜD, UL, CSA, etc.) for certification and approvals
• Prepare, review, and validate certification documentation and test reports
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and testing laboratories to ensure compliance in product development

We are looking for

• EU/EFTA citizen
• Fluent in English; German highly recommended, but not mandatory
• Solid understanding of the relevant standards and directives is a must-have: ISO 13849, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61508, UL, CSA, ABS Marine, DNV GL, APQP, LVD (2014/35/EU), MD (2006/42/EC), EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and 2015/862/EU.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience leading or contributing to at least 1–2 compliance / certification projects.
• Strong sense of responsibility, structured, and self-driven personality
